Did you know it is a myth that you shouldn't pick bunnies up because they are prey animals?!

Although your bunny might not love being picked up at first, did you know that most rabbits enjoy a cuddle once they are actually up, and they are so smart that they can absolutely be trained to get used to being picked up, and start to associate it with cuddle time and maybe a sneaky treat!

It is SO IMPORTANT that you can pick them up for these reasons -

*If you ever need to give them medications (common after neutering for example!) it will be SO much easier (for both of you!) if they are used to being picked up!!

*One of the best ways to spot illnesses or injuries early (and therefore enhance their chances of recovery) is to pick them up and give them a weekly check over - you can see if they've gained or lost weight because you know how they normally feel, you can check their fur for dry or scabby or bald patches, check ears for signs of mites, check front teeth for issues, check their bottoms for urine or poop stuck to them that would indicate an issue, check their feet, eyes etc.

*Reduce stress when they DO have to be picked up - e.g. nail clipping, demoulting grooms, vet handling, getting into carrier for trips

*Develop an even closer bond with them because they feel secure and not scared when you pick them up

*Reduce the risk of being scratched or kicked, or of your bunny injuring themselves because they are panicking when you do have to pick them up
